Company History
Murray Graham Anderson began Anderson Hearing Aid Service, Ltd. In 1964, after attending a training session with Beltone in Chicago. That training session marked the beginning of a successful partnership with Beltone. Murray opened his first office with the help of an investment by his father, James Crosley Anderson. At that time, Murray’s mother, Evelyn, worked in the office as a receptionist. In 1965, James joined his wife and son and began work as a hearing aid practitioner.
In 1969, James became the founding president of the Alberta Hearing Aid Association. He was also a driving force behind the establishment of formal education programs for hearing aid practitioners. Through his hard work and dedication, James helped pave the way for the hearing aid industry and created a legacy of commitment to better hearing that is carried on today through his son and grandson.
In 1980, shortly after Murray completed his coursework in the Hearing Aid Practitioner’s Program at Alberta College, Denise Anderson joined Murray at the office, taking over the administrative and bookkeeping duties. During that time, she also took courses in the Hearing Aid Practitioner’s Program. One year later, Murray and Denise relocated the business to its current location on 124th Street.
In 1999, Murray and Denise successfully opened their first branch office in Sherwood Park. This office was the first of its kind to serve the Sherwood Park Community.
Murray and Denise’s son, Kevin, began his career at Anderson Hearing Aid Service Ltd. in an administrative role in 1992. In 2002, after completing four years of undergraduate studies and three years of studies in audiology, Kevin returned to the practice as the first Clinical Audiologist. Commemorating his contribution to the organization, the company was renamed Anderson Hearing Aid & Audiology Services Ltd.
In 2003, Murray, Denise and Kevin successfully opened their second branch office on the Southside of Edmonton. In 2007, the third branch was opened in Spruce Grove. Currently, Anderson employs two audiologists, nine hearing aid practitioners, operates four offices in and around Edmonton and over 25 service centers across Alberta.
